Full Stipend Description

Each year, Can Serrat a offers two Writers Full Stipends, and two Visual Artist Full Stipends which entitle the winners to a 30-day residency including free accomodation, breakfast and dinner (except Sundays). The residency is open to writers and visual artists in all fields regardless of nationality or age. All chosen candidates a have the opportunity to do a reading / exhibition at the centre. The AIR are responsible for all extra personal living expenses, travel and insurance costs, telephone charges and any other expenses during their stay.

Calendar

Each recipient may choose a 30-day time slot for any period of the year, dating up to 12 months from the time of original notification (assuming space is available at that time).

Residency requirements

During their stay at Can Serrat, the selected artist is asked to give one informal lecture concerning their work, open to the public in general. Each year’s artist-in-residence is asked to leave one piece of work as a donation to Can Serrat's permanent collection.

Deadline for Applications

 Writer Full Stipends Applications will be accepted from :

 1)      1^st February-1^st March

 2)       1^st July- 1^st August

 Visual Artist Full Stipends Applications will be accepted from :

 3)      1^st April-1^st May

 4)       1^st October- 1^st November

 The results of the Full Stipends are announced 2 months after deadline application date.

Writers Full Stipend Candidates are asked to send *:

 • Curriculum Vitae / Resume

 • Cover letter describing artist statement and project/work planned for the residency period.

 • 10 page sample of recent work (i.e. completed poems, prose, plays or scripts).

Visual Artists Full Stipend Candidates are asked to send*:

 • Curriculum Vitae / Resume

 • Cover letter describing artist statement and project/work planned for the residency period.

 • Visual documentation of recent work (10 jpg imges).

*There is no official application form.

 Applicants for the full stipend are automatically considered for a Support stipend. 

Support Stipend Description

Can Serrat offers a limited number of Support Stipends to visual artists and writers throughout the year. The stipends cover from 30% to 50% of the total cost (food, lodging and workspace) of stays lasting from 30 to 90 days (the stipend cannot be combined with other discounts mentioned in the pricelist).

Requirements and deadlines are the same as for Full Stipend applications.

Deposit

To confirm the residency with support stipend,  the artist needs to pay a non refundable deposit of 300,00 EUR + 20,00 EUR bank fee = 320,00 EUR, which will of course be deducted from the invoice to be paid upon arrival.

Support Stipends discounts are applied on current year pricelist of booked residency time slot.
