Life at Can Serrat isn't just hard work. Many people come to enjoy the local atmosphere, festivals and the natural beauty of Montserrat  State Park, the Monestary and the Penedes wine growing region.

Can Serrat is just five minutes walk from the village of El Bruc. In the village, you will find bars, restaurants, shops, a swimming pool, a pharmacy and a bank.
Just up the hill from Can Serrat is El Bruc's beautiful romanesque church.

Can Serrat is situated at the foot of Montserrat, a  mountain mass which is unique due to its spectacular natural forms. The area, very popular with hikers and climbers, has been a Natural Park since 1987.

According to legend, the Montserrat monastery dates back to 880, when the image of the Virgin (actually carved in the C12), said to have been brought to Barcelona by St. Peter, was hidden in a recess in a mountain at Montserrat at the time of the Moorish invasion, where it was rediscovered by shepherds. Gondemar, bishop of Vic, attempted to remove the image to Manresa, but on reaching the ledge where the monastery now stands, it refused to proceed further. A chapel was erected there, to which was added a nunnery, replaced in 976 by a Benedictine convent.
